Poway ~ a Well-Run City

Poway is a well-run city, and my goal is to keep it that way—with steady leadership, careful planning, and no unnecessary course corrections.

My priorities are clear:

• Public Safety (police & fire)

• Water treatment & infrastructure

• Streets

• Other infrastructure and City Services

• Seniors

• Parks & the Arts

• And stable finances to enable all of the above

Poway is fortunate to be financially stable and well managed. With responsible stewardship, we can keep it that way. I’m asking for your vote to help protect the services, stability, and quality of life we all value.

Fiscal Responsibility

Poway is in strong financial shape. We balance our budgets, maintain healthy reserves, rarely borrow, and hold an AA+ credit rating.

We also have some of the lowest taxes in the county and have never asked voters to raise local sales or property taxes. I’m proud that Poway lives within its means.

Our reserves protect us from emergencies and unexpected expenses, while our capital replacement fund allows us to plan and pay cash for major equipment whenever possible.

Public Safety

Keeping Poway safe is one of my highest priorities.

We contract with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department for law enforcement and benefit from a strong network of Senior Volunteers who support our deputies.

Our Fire Department is rated Class 1, placing it among the top fire departments in the country. I’m committed to maintaining that exceptional level of readiness, prevention, and emergency response.

Infrastructure

Poway takes care of its infrastructure before problems become emergencies.

Our streets are regularly repaved and restriped, our water and sewer systems are continuously maintained, and our stormwater channels are cleared before the rainy season.

The recently completed water storage project was finished on time and under budget—another example of responsible planning.

Quality of Life

Poway offers the amenities that make a community special: parks, trails, Poway Lake, the Performing Arts Center, Old Poway Park, Veterans Park, the Farmers Market, and more.

Protecting these community assets is an important part of preserving Poway’s quality of life.

Local Government, Not Partisan Politics

Local government should focus on getting things done—not partisan politics.

Residents want safe neighborhoods, sound finances, reliable services, good roads, and a city government that works without getting in the way. That’s what I call “kitchen table” government.

Development Along Poway Road

Development is one of the biggest concerns I hear from residents.

The reality is that state housing laws have significantly reduced the City’s ability to reject certain projects. Poway must comply with state housing requirements while doing everything possible to preserve the character of our community.

The Poway Road Specific Plan remains an important tool for encouraging development that better reflects what residents want for the Poway Road corridor.

My Appointment to City Council

I was appointed to the City Council after the previous District One councilmember resigned.

The City accepted applications, interviewed candidates, and selected me to fill the vacancy. I was sworn in and have been serving Poway ever since.

Now, for the first time, I’m asking District One voters to choose me at the ballot box.

I’m proud of Poway, proud of the work we’ve done, and committed to keeping our city safe, financially strong, and a great place to live.

Poway is a well-run city, and my goal is to keep it that way. That means protecting our finances, public safety, infrastructure, and quality of life through steady, responsible leadership.
